On October 29, the first all-new Karry X5 for international markets rolled off the line at the Kaifeng plant. As a core product in Chery Commercial Vehicle’s overseas mini-vehicle strategy, the Karry X5 has now moved from R&D into mass production—a key leap from product definition to manufacturing for that strategy.

Strategy in Action: Deeper Global Market Push Gains Pace
At the rollout ceremony, Cui Jian, Deputy General Manager of Chery Holding’s Overseas Business Division and General Manager of the X5 Product Line, said the all-new Karry X5 is more than the birth of a new product. It is a practical example of how Chery Commercial Vehicle is stepping into overseas markets, gaining insight into customer needs and rounding out its product portfolio. From the outset, the Karry X5 was developed for target overseas markets and repeatedly fine-tuned to the geographic conditions and operating environments of markets in Central and South America, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Africa—a concrete embodiment of Chery Commercial Vehicle’s “Customer First, Born Global” strategy in the mini truck segment.
Cui stressed that the rollout is a new starting point. Chery Commercial Vehicle will continue to work with global partners, integrating more deeply into global industrial and value chains through more forward-looking planning, better products and more comprehensive services, creating value for users and jointly shaping a new global commercial vehicle landscape.

Global Development: Product Strength Tailored to Overseas Use Cases
In the product presentation, Cai Yabing, Deputy Director of Chery Commercial Vehicle’s R&D Institute, said the Karry X5 is built on Chery Commercial Vehicle’s International 2.0 platform and is positioned as a spacious, high-payload model with smart safety features and reliable, durable performance. In target markets, conventional fuel remains dominant, while CNG demand also exists. The Karry X5 therefore offers multiple emission solutions, high-, mid- and low-level configurations, and a CNG powertrain to improve its adaptability across different markets.
Its product strengths are built around overseas use cases. Space and payload capacity are superior to those of products in the same class, meeting heavy-load needs. A large display, phone mirroring, driver and passenger airbags, ESC, AEB and a reversing camera combine smart features with driving safety. The model follows Chery Group’s design standards and development processes and has completed reliability validation under high-temperature, extreme-cold, high-altitude and long-mileage conditions, with localized adaptability testing to be carried out in multiple countries. Its chassis uses a high-performance anti-corrosion coating to improve durability.
The Karry X5 was developed from the ground up around global user needs rather than being adapted from a domestic model for overseas markets. R&D, procurement, manufacturing and sales were coordinated in advance to strengthen the product’s adaptability across different markets. This development approach runs through the entire process, from product definition to mass production.

Test Drives: Product Performance Verified Up Close
A test-drive session was also arranged alongside the rollout event. Dealer partners and customer representatives experienced the Karry X5 firsthand, getting a firsthand sense of its space, payload, smart safety features and reliability. They also provided feedback based on real-world use scenarios to support subsequent market launches and product optimization.

Export Growth: 3.0-Generation Lineup Accelerates
The rollout of the Karry X5 comes against the backdrop of continued growth in Chery Commercial Vehicle’s overseas business. As of September 2026, Chery Group’s cumulative global sales had exceeded 20 million vehicles, with cumulative exports surpassing 7 million. It has ranked first among Chinese passenger vehicle brands in exports for 23 consecutive years. Chery Commercial Vehicle’s exports grew 155% year-on-year in 2025 and 87% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2026, with overseas business covering more than 80 countries and regions.

Under its plan, Chery Commercial Vehicle will launch all-new 3.0-generation products over the next three years, covering more than 20 models across heavy trucks, light trucks, pickups, vans and other categories. The Karry X5 is the first model under the overseas mini-vehicle strategy to enter mass production. Its rollout not only validates earlier R&D and manufacturing preparations but also provides a reference for future product launches.
A New Chapter Begins: Working Together to Expand the Global Market
The rollout of the first international-market Karry X5 marks the first major milestone in implementing Chery Commercial Vehicle’s overseas mini-vehicle strategy. Under the plan, the Karry X5 will be showcased at the SIAM International Agricultural Show in Morocco, take to the Andes mountains in South America, serve urban distribution logistics in Vietnam, and enter communities and agricultural areas in Southern Europe. These market scenarios outline the launch roadmap for this “born-global vehicle” and mark the next stage of Chery Commercial Vehicle’s overseas mini-vehicle strategy. This Karry X5 rolling off the line at the Kaifeng plant embodies Chery Commercial Vehicle’s commitment to deepening its presence in the global mini commercial vehicle market and will face market validation together with global partners.
